Design inspiration

We recently posted a facebook article on where design inspiration comes from, titled: Wow, where do we start?? Because inspiration comes from everywhere: nature, urban spaces, faces, design icons: be it people, or products, clothes, art, music, words, pictures....it's all around us.If you already have a pretty good idea of what you like and dislike, in terms of your style, our designers' job is to confirm, and refine your preferences, pushing the boundaries of design and products to create you a scheme that screams “personalized design”...

But what about those of you who haven't yet discovered your own unique style? All is not lost!
I truly believe that “Style” is something that we absorb through our visual experiences, and is surely influenced by our travels, surroundings and our memories. But even if you haven't had the chance to travel and feel less than moved by your environment, inspiration can be waiting around the next corner. All you have to do is open your eyes to it.

Start by looking close to home. Identify those pieces you really love, a coat, a
plate, a picture. Then ask yourself why? Is it the colour, is it the shape, or the texture? Keep going and you'll probably start to see a “pattern” forming.

Then spread your area of research: take the time to look around you when walking to work, when you're shopping, chilling out in a wine bar or restaurant (there is a reason why we are “pulled” to certain styles of eating places...) or going for a country stroll.

Make note of what you like. Maybe it's the shape of doorway, or shade of an old cement floor (maybe in your favourite resto?), and the mix of colours in that sunset...

The essence of whatever creates strong, positive feelings in you can be worked into your living environment as elements of your decorative scheme. We like to call it “creativity with roots”! So start today discovering what you love! Then hand it over to our designers. You'll be really amazed at what they can do with it!  Happy style hunting!
