Episode 18: Economies ahead!
I knew it was going to be an expensive year, building a completely new concept from scratch.
I was lucky that the creative skills were my own. That alone had “saved” a very real, and very large amount of money. But there were still the professional services, the technical aspects, and the human aspect to fund, before creative thoughts can emerge as hard reality...
Changing continents was an investment in its own right, and France was still very present in our lives, with one building project underway, and another about to start. So it was to be expected that taking on the creation of a national concept, without the luxury of a client paying for my time, would start to tell on the day-today family finances.
It was time to get pro-active, before it was needed, and with the family still scattered around the globe I decided to downsize: again! The search was on: somewhere quiet and central, but with an open aspect that would keep my spirits up during my extended working days.
Lots of light, and some surrounding greenery were a must, as was somewhere I could install a home office. No room for huge luxuries, our next home had to be an honest “workhorse”, but there was no reason it couldn't be pleasant too! I was almost beginning to look forward to it...
